We had a lovely, sunny Explorer Day on Sunday (April 22nd). Thanks to Steve Williams for helping us to learn about all the interesting nature discoveries along the Millard-Piercy Conservation Trail. Highlights included helping Steve count and identify fish in the Stewards’ fish fence, the Millard Creek estuary, learning about the wetland, finding big trees and learning about the different layers in the forest.
The Millard-Piercy Watershed Stewards have developed a self-guided interpretive trail – there are brochures available at the start of the trail and lots of fun for the kids to run ahead to find the numbered sites.
A sub-theme for the day was “Stewardship” – given that it was Earth Day on the 22nd, so we hoped the kids could learn a bit about ways we can all work together to be stewards of the earth.
